This grant provided scholarships for up to 40 Western students to attend the Washington Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference, which took place virtually on Wednesday, March 2 through Friday, March 4, 2022. The scholarships were meant to allow 20 students to travel to Oregon and participate in the conference in person, and 20 students to attend the conference virtually. However, due to ongoing COVID pandemic restrictions, the conference shifted to being fully remote. The project team quickly pivoted and organized an in-person event on Western’s campus, so that student attendees could participate together in the virtual events. The grant funding provided for conference attendance, as well as zero-waste lunch meals for both Thursday and Friday.
