My dream job would be one where I get to work in a field that positively impacts the public and the environment directly. I would find personal satisfaction in the kind of work that makes a tangible difference. I’ve imagined that could look like working for a business in operations management, consulting for ways to reduce production delays and thereby their manufacturing carbon footprint, or perhaps working in the public sector where I could actively engage with energy efficiency policy and implementation. With this in mind, I envision working in a more traditional office setting versus a field setting, but I look forward to experiencing new work environments while focused on this program’s practicum. Whatever the setting or industry, I intend to pursue sustainability focused work locally and in Washington state, at least right after university. I love Washington. I’m invested in working to preserve our environment through sustainable living and business practices, because I care about preserving the future of our state for my family and friends.
Through the Climate Leadership Certificate program, I am most looking forward to building relationships, working in small teams and learning from and together with my peers. I anticipate participating with this community of students will help me to improve my environmental literacy skills and further my professional development. A significant benefit of this program for me is the practical experience it provides. I am excited to gain valuable workplace experience in the fields of energy economics, sustainable business consulting, supply chain and the many other opportunities this program provides.
