Throughout the one-and-a-half year program, students engage in curriculum targeted at sustainability literacy, planning, and leadership, while also participating in hands-on practicum work with a variety of sustainability organizations in Whatcom County and the Methow Valley.

My dream climate-related job is one where I am surrounded by individuals all passionate about the environment and helping it in any way we can. I am an extrovert that loves to talk to people and engage and I know that I would love a job where I am able to do that. I’m interested in many environmental topics and want to help as much as I can, so I would thrive in any job that supports the need for changing the ways we treat our environment. The topics I’m extremely interested in are sustainability and environmental justice so I would hope that my job incorporates those two and I could be a sustainability manager or be a lead on projects focused on enacting these topics into day-to-day life.

I applied for the Climate Leadership Certificate because I really wanted first-hand experience working in a business setting with other individuals who are passionate about helping our environment. I also am looking forward to enhancing my own knowledge of what it means to be sustainable and how to grow individually with that as well as how to encourage others to do so.
