In my dream climate-related job, I would be working on software that helps solve climate-related issues, or work as a software developer for a company focused on sustainability and climate change. I could see myself using machine learning to track and reduce carbon emissions or working on models that predict climate patterns. I developed a machine learning model that predicted weather in Seattle for my Data 311 final project last fall and it led to an interest in using computer science to help with climate issues. I’d like to work for a company that has the best interests of the planet in mind and I’m also interested in working remotely so I can go out and spend time in nature.

I’m looking forward to being in a group of passionate and like-minded peers and getting hands-on experience in local climate work in Bellingham! As a computer science major this program will be a great way for me to branch out and take other classes that interest me like sustainability.
