SOC is for administrative and academic office working groups, to measure, improve, and get recognition for their daily practices that reduce energy and materials consumption, impacts and waste. As of Spring 2018, 28% of campus offices are certified. Participation is open to all, and we can also assist in certifying entire departments or office groups. Contact the SOC coordinator to learn more, and sign your office up for Sustainable Office Certification support and tools.

Participation

  1. Contact the Campus Conservation Coordinator
  2. Download and complete the Sustainable Office Certification score sheet
  3. Meet with the conservation staff and make improvements
  4. Email your completed certification to the coordinator to confirm your certification level
  5. Done!

Your office will receive a framed Certificate of Achievement signed by the University President, will be recognized at the annual Western Sustainability Awards reception, and will be added to the published list of Sustainable Office partners.

Benefits

The Sustainable Office Certification protects the environment, conserves resources, reduces costs, and promotes fairness, safety and health. The program supports actions and provides a simple way of measuring efforts that happen at the office level. Participating Offices are recognized for their level of achievement, as a way of showing thanks and appreciation for measurement of work well done.
