Reproductive Justice: Equal Access to Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive Care at the Student Health Center

Reproductive Justice: Equal Access to Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive Care at the Student Health Center

Amount Awarded: $28,000.00

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Implementation: Active, Fall 2024 – Spring 2025

This project facilitates access to LARC (Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives) for students with uterus' without insurance, with inadequate insurance, or out-of-state insurance that denies coverage of certain or all contraceptives, or those with confidentiality issues preventing them from using insurance. The grant funding pays for these LARC options and the cost of the procedure through the Student Health Center.

Equitable access to LARC for the student population at WWU affords students with the opportunity to pursue their studies and completion of degree/goal without the worry of untimely/undesired conception or financial/confidential barrier to that access. This promotes bodily autonomy, in addition to academic retention.
