Jillian Trinkaus

Sustainable Transportation Manager

Transportation planner and bicycling advocate Jillian Trinkaus offers Western’s community members better ways to get around campus and throughout Bellingham as the Sustainable Transportation Program Manager.

Jillian, what will a more sustainable world look like to you?

“I am passionate about reducing the number of cars that are driven each day. In a more sustainable world, the built environment and transportation policies would foster walking, rolling (bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc.), and transit over car travel. Minimizing car travel is the largest single action that people can take to increase their own health and that of the planet. When we achieve this, we will be healthier, and our air, soil, and water will be less polluted. In addition to being massive polluters, cars are very loud. In a more sustainable world, there will be more birds, and we will be able to hear them singing.”
